So in the name of educating you I am going explain of the toxicity of rubbing alcohol– but if you just want q quick answer: make your cleaning wipes with vinegar and essential oils instead of alcohol. Also do not put alcohol on your skin. Cleaning recipe at the end of the article.
I know the question is what does this have to do with my weight. If your body is fighting chemicals it cannot be as productive as it needs to be in burning fat.
Now why is it toxic:
Most rubbing alcohol is made from isopropyl alcohol or isopropanol in water. Most alcohol is concentrated from 68% alcohol in water up to 99% alcohol in water. The 70% rubbing alcohol is highly effective as a disinfectant, why I was using it for cleaning. Here is the problem, the body metabolizes Isopropyl alcohol as acetone and that is toxic. Additives make this alcohol bitter-tasting so you will not drink it – but putting it on your skin allows your body to absorb it as well. Drinking this alcohol can cause headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, central nervous system depression, organ damage and potentially coma or death. All really bad stuff!
The other type of rubbing alcohol consists of 97.5-100% denatured ethyl alcohol or ethanol with water. Ethyl alcohol naturally is less toxic than isopropyl alcohol. The Ethyl alcohol is what naturally occurs in wine, beer and other alcoholic beverages, therefore it is less toxic. You still cannot drink Rubbing alcohol made of ethyl alcohol.
In fact, in the US, additives make it as toxic as isopropyl alcohol.
All rubbing alcohol manufactured in the US is toxic to ingest, inhale or apply to your skin. In fact, if you read the product label, you'll see there is a warning against most of the common uses of rubbing alcohol. We will continue to use alcohol to sterilize things such a tweezers and needles for splinter removal – but other than that my cabinet is going more natural.
How I make cleaning wipes:
I take large 34.5 oz. peanut containers add:
1/3 cup of vinegar
1 cup of water
3 table spoons of blue Dawn
5-6 drops of Lavender Oil
Then add as many rags as will fit in and turn upside down. The lavender and vinegar are gentle on your system, but strong enough to kill germs.
